The Heart of the Matter

Is low fat milk the answer to healthier living?

Low fat milk is a healthier choice for you and your family, simply because it contains all the essentials present in milk. Since the calorie count is low, this milk can be consumed by people with special needs like diabetics, the overweight and the elderly. Several studies show that low-fat or non-fat cow’s milk can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes, delay natural menopause, and even lower the risk of high blood pressure. That is why we say, “Heart right tau sub right!”

The proteins present in low fat milk are untouched during its processing, hence it is considered as a source of biological protein. The presence of calcium and vitamin D help in both the building and maintenance of bones and teeth. Consumption of low-fat milk helps restrict the percentage of fat intake considerably, especially the saturated fats present in whole milk. This helps regulate blood cholesterol levels and thus decrease the chances of heart disease taking place. Here are some pointers on how to use low fat milk the right way!

NUTRITIONAL FACTS -01

If you drink cappuccinos or lattes — ask for them with fat-free (skim) milk. Add fat-free or low-fat milk instead of water to oatmeal and hot cereals.

Use fat-free or low-fat milk when making condensed cream soups (such as cream of tomato).

For dessert, make chocolate or butterscotch pudding with fat-free or low-fat milk.

Whole Milk vs Low fat Milk

The USDA recommends drinking three cups of fat-free or low-fat milk per day, but critics like Walter Willett, MD, professor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health argues that  drinking higher-fat milk leaves people feeling satiated longer, so they experience reduced cravings for other food. However, if a low fat milk, Like Prema Heart Right gives you all the nutrition of whole milk – 100% pure, pasteurized, homogenized with no water or solids added, you know you’ve got the real deal! Be fit, live right!
